CHRISTMAS TIME AND EPIPHANY, JANUARY 2019 PASTORAL LETTER TO THE CLERGY AND COMMUNITIES OF THE DIOCESE
Dear Youth, Adolescents, Boys and Girls, Women and Men from all communities, and dear Diocesan Family:
In this blessed time of the birth and manifestation of Jesus of Nazareth, I greet and embrace you in His Name. These days we continue to celebrate with joy the arrival of God in the world that impels us to permanently realize the Life and Hope project of making the Truth known.
Jesus is the Truth which is why he is Hope for the world. Not just any truth or any hope, but that which comes from the Eternal God. Let us open our eyes, hearts, minds and spirits to witness the Grace of God. Faced with so many false and superficial hopes, and faced with so many slanders and deceptions, we must be ready to announce this unique truth. We must face all that distorts the message of the Eternal Truth with unity and courage.
During these days, we remember Saint Stephen, the first martyr of the Church, and Saint John the Evangelist, both committed to the Mission of God, offering their irrefutable testimony to the world about the Truth that is Jesus Christ. We also remember all the Innocent Saints and little children who, through cruel human injustice, have lost their lives. Today we see that little has changed our global reality and the lives and dignity of younger generations remain at risk. Hence the importance of Family, like that of Nazareth, formed in such a way that it is a bearer of values for each member, and radiates a climate marked by the presence of God.
The celebrations of the final days of the year and the beginning of the next remind us of the deep commitments we made in our Baptism, the need to make them a reality in the mission that God has entrusted to us, and in such a way that we manifest His Truth and Presence in the world.
Each congregation, each family and each of you in your own environment, has lived and faced your own challenges in 2018. We thank God for his kindness in giving each of us the potential to grow in the face of challenges and difficulties. At the diocesan level we have experienced a year of transcendental events and renewing experiences, all of which have blessed us with new learnings and new opportunities. For all this, we humbly present our offering of gratitude to
our Eternal God who has guided and sustained us day after day.
At the beginning of a new day and a new year, let us ask that the Holy Spirit breathe his Breath of Life upon us, sustain us and enlighten us in new ways. May the Spirit guide us towards the light and the truth that is Christ Jesus, in the midst of our complex daily realities. On a personal, family, community, and contextual level may we all have happy hearts, healthy thinking and generous hands to give and serve, always happy and grateful, always sowing values and hope.
May this time of the EPIPHANY - manifestation of the Truth and Glory of the Trinity of God, bring all of us together as a prayerful and united family. May we, as a diocesan family, raise our voices in song and prayer, making known that Jesus Christ, Son of God, welcomer of all humanity with Love, is Lord and Savior!
The Heavens declare the Glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.

TIEMPO DE NAVIDAD Y EPIFANIA, ENERO 2019
CARTA PASTORAL AL CLERO Y COMUNIDADES DE LA DIOCESIS
Queridos Jóvenes, adolescentes, niños y niñas, mujeres y hombres de todas las comunidades, querida Familia Diocesana:
En este bendito tiempo del nacimiento y manifestación de Jesús de Nazaret, les saludo y les abrazo en Su Nombre. Estos días seguimos celebrando con gozo la llegada de Dios al mundo que nos impulsa a realizar permanentemente el Proyecto de Vida y Esperanza dando a conocer la Verdad.
Jesús es la Verdad por eso es Esperanza para el mundo. Pero no cualquier verdad o cualquier esperanza, sino aquella que proviene de Dios Trino y Eterno. Tengamos abiertos los ojos del corazón, de la mente y el espíritu para vislumbrar la Gracia de Dios. Ante tantas falsas y superficiales esperanzas, ante tantas calumnias y engaños, estemos listos para anunciar esta única Verdad. Es preciso que encaremos con coherencia y valentía todo cuanto distorsiona el mensaje de esa Verdad Eterna.
Recordamos en estos días a San Esteban el primer mártir de la Iglesia y a San Juan el Evangelista, ambos comprometidos en la Misión de Dios para ofrecer su fehaciente testimonio al mundo sobre la Verdad que es Jesucristo. Y a los Santos Inocentes, pequeños niños, a quienes, por la cruel injusticia humana se les arrebato la vida. Hoy vemos que poco ha cambiado la realidad global y siempre está en riesgo la vida y la dignidad de las jóvenes generaciones. De ahí la importancia de la Familia, como la de Nazaret, construirla de tal manera que sea portadora de valores para cada miembro, e irradie un clima marcado por la presencia de Dios.
Las celebraciones de los días finales del año y comienzos del siguiente nos recuerdan el profundo compromiso que hicimos en nuestro Bautismo para luego hacerlas realidad en la misión que Dios nos ha encomendado, de tal manera que manifestemos Su Verdad y Su Presencia en el mundo.
Cada congregación, cada familia y cada persona, en su propio ámbito han vivido intensamente todos los retos del 2018. Damos gracias a Dios por su bondad al darnos potencialidades para incorporarlos y crecer en las dificultades. A nivel diocesano también hemos vivido un año de sucesos trascendentales y experiencias renovadoras, nos ha dado enseñanzas y nuevas oportunidades. Por todo cual presentamos nuestra ofrenda de gratitud a Dios Trino y Eterno quien nos ha guiado y sostenido jornada tras jornada.
Al comienzo de un nuevo día y un nuevo año, pidamos que el Espíritu Santo sople su aliento de Vida, nos sostenga e ilumine en los nuevos caminos por recorrer. Que nos guie hacia la luz y la verdad que es Cristo Jesús, en medio de las complejas realidades diarias. Tanto a nivel personal, familiar, comunitario, y a nivel contextual nos permita tener el corazón alegre, el pensamiento saludable y las manos generosas para dar y servir, siempre alegres y agradecidos, siempre sembrando valores y esperanza.
¡Que en este tiempo de la EPIFANIA- manifestación de la Verdad y la Gloria de Dios Trino, todas y todos juntos como una familia orante y unida, como familia diocesana podamos elevar nuestro canto y oración dando a conocer que Jesucristo, Hijo de Dios, acoge a la humanidad en su Amor como Señor y Salvador!
El cielo proclama la Gloria de Dios,
de su Creación nos habla la bóveda celeste.
Los días se lo cuentan entre sí, las noches hacen correr la voz.
Aunque no se escuchan palabras ni se oye voz alguna,
el tema va por toda la tierra, y hasta el último rincón del mundo,
Hasta donde el sol tiene su hogar. (Salmo 19:1-4).
