Bishop Selection Process and Election Timeline

Please click on the link below to view the full official Diocesan profile and process for the election of a permanent Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Cuba.



The nomination period began with the publication of this document, and submissions will be accepted until October 25th. The full calendar of the process that will result in the election of the new Bishop is as follows:


  • May 14 - 15, 2024 - Presentation of the Nominating Committee to the 114th Diocesan Convention.

  • April 25 - May 26, 2024 - First meeting of the Nominating Committee to plan the election schedule.

  • May 28 - 30, 2024 - Consultation with all the churches in the diocese on the personal characteristics that should be possessed by someone who aspires to be Bishop of The Episcopal Church in Cuba. Meeting of the Nominating Committee to analyze the results of the surveys.

  • October 10, 2024 - The Standing Committee publishes the Profile for the election of the Bishop.

    Time for submitting applications to the Nominating Committee is open.

  • October 25, 2024 - Closing of the nominations period.

  • October 28 - November 18, 2024 - Analysis of applications; preparation of files.

  • November 21 - 22, 2024 - Retreat with the candidates as part of the discernment process.

  • November 25, 2024 - Submission of the list of candidates to the Permanent Committee.

  • November 26, 2024 - The Permanent Committee makes public the names of the candidates.

  • December 2 - 21, 2024 - Visits and presentation of the candidates throughout the Diocese (three archdeaconries).

  • January 13 - February 1, 2025 - Visits and presentation of the candidates throughout the Diocese (three archdeaconries).

  • February 28, 2025 - Election Convention.

  • August 2, 2025 - Target date for Consecration and Installation of the Bishop-Elect
